PAS 125 up-date
Riverpark Training hosted an evening with The Innovation Group PLC, BSI Global and a group of Body Shop Managers selected by The Innovation Group PLC on the 27th May 2010.
Paul Wood (Network Development and SW regional Manager) with The Innovation Group PLC opened the evening by addressing the audience as to where the industry is with PAS 125 and the progress his company is looking for from Repairers in the province. He was pleased to see that progress was being made through NVQ to improve the standard and prepare technicians for ATA Assessments. He informed the audience that Northern Ireland was currently 3 years behind mainland UK and his company was looking to see this progression gather some momentum over the next six months.
Frank Harvey a leading consultant on VDA addressed the Repairers explaining what training their Bodyshop estimators would need to achieve VDA Part “B”, he explained that initially estimators had a 70% failure rate in this section and the costs of re-sitting is high, the best way to prepare is to do the training then put into practice for a short period of time, then have the assessment.
Steve Wright from B.S.I. Global explained that PAS125 is not about achieving a standard it’s about keeping it, his team will inspect every 6 months, usually by an unannounced visit. If minor discrepancies are discovered the bodyshop has 2 weeks to amend and failure to comply could result in losing the kitemark.
Riverpark Training will therefore in conjunction with Frank Harvey be arranging VDA both Part “A” and “B” training over the summer months. Persons interested in this should contact reception on 02890342400 or email riverparktraining@btconnect.com
Riverpark Training also provides all levels of ATA assessment on Panel, Paint and MET. Training for these assessments is recommended and various courses to assist technicians improve their skills are also available on the website www.riverparktraining.com
